Years of experience in general and emergency medicine lead to internship in rotating specialties and then surgery internship, followed by a partial surgical residency before deciding to not complete the program and instead joining Alpine Animal Clinic. Dr. Merry Johnson earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University and has been in small animal practice for 8 years, and 1.5 years in regulatory medicine. Her professional interests include soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology, and dentistry.

Dr. Maddie Ryan grew up in Helena, graduating from Carroll College in 2016 while also working at Alpine Animal Clinic as a Technical Assistant.

Alpine is where where she met her future husband, Dr. Paul Ryan. Dr. Maddie (Parker) Ryan graduated from WSU's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2020.
