Dr. Merry Michalski, DVM, lived in many places throughout her childhood, but spent the most time in Colorado. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Regis University in Denver in 2006 and completed veterinary school in 2013 at Colorado State University in Fort Collins.

During the time between her undergraduate and graduate studies, she worked as a veterinary assistant/technician in a small animal general practice and also for a veterinary ophthalmologist.  Her time at The Eye Clinic inspired her to continue her education and pursue her veterinary degree.  Accordingly, she has a particular interest in ophthalmologic issues like cataracts, retinal atrophy, glaucoma, and eye trauma.

Prior to coming to Helena, Dr. Merry had been working in a small animal emergency hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan for a year where she developed surgical skills and became proficient in emergency situations and critical care.  During this time, Merry met her husband, Allen.  He recently completed dental school at the University of Michigan.  He grew up in Anaconda, Montana and did his undergraduate studies at Carroll College in Helena.  He has always dreamed of moving back home to Montana and they are both very excited to be a part of Helena’s community.

Merry’s professional interests include emergency medicine, advanced orthopedic surgery, soft tissue surgery, and, of course, ophthalmology.  She also enjoys learning about and treating birds, small mammals, and other exotics.  Her interests outside of work include running, hiking, golfing, tennis, playing in the sun and snow, and brewing beer with her husband, Allen.
